Guide to Registering Journal Reviewers in Web of Science ResearcherID
After reviewing a manuscript for a scientific journal, a researcher needs to follow the steps below to register and record their peer-review activity in the Web of Science ResearcherID system:
1. Register on the Web of Science (WoS):
First, register on the Web of Science platform.
2. Obtain a WoS ResearcherID:
After registration and entering your personal information on your profile page, you will be assigned a WoS ResearcherID. The result will be communicated to you by email.
3. Add your completed peer reviews to your WoS ResearcherID:
After reviewing a manuscript, some journals ask reviewers whether they would like to have their review activity added to their WoS ResearcherID. If you select “Yes”, the completed review will automatically be transferred to and added to your WoS ResearcherID profile.
4. For journals that do not provide this option:
Most journals do not have this feature. To add a completed review, simply forward the thank-you email that you received from the journal after completing the review directly to:
5. Verification of your reviews:
Once Web of Science receives and verifies the review information, the number of your verified reviews (Verified Reviews) and the names of the journals for which you have completed reviews will be added to your WoS ResearcherID profile.
6. Endorsing journals:
Another activity that can be performed through WoS ResearcherID is endorsing journals. To do this, simply log in to your WoS ResearcherID profile, search for the title of the journal you wish to endorse, and confirm your endorsement.
It is evident that recording your peer-review activities in WoS ResearcherID can help document your academic contributions and increase your visibility and recognition within the international research community.
